In the complex world of global chemical imports, multinational corporations face the challenge of navigating diverse regulations and import limits across different countries. Furthermore, these limitations can change annually, and multi-country collaboration can lead to delays in the requirements gathering process. In this article, we discuss the implementation of a compliance check system that addresses these challenges while providing flexibility in production planning and material usage.

The System Design
To tackle the challenges presented by differing regulations and collaboration delays, our team designed a system with the following key features:
Real-time Data Retrieval: We integrated the system with a commercial global chemistry import/export regulations database, allowing real-time retrieval of up-to-date regulatory information for each country.
Modular Architecture: We employed a modular design approach, with individual modules for each country, product, and regulated material. This approach enabled us to update, delete, disable, or enable modules without affecting the overall system. By implementing modules and logic for the data we had already gathered, we could proceed with the project without delays.
Production Planning and Management: The system included features to enable production planning teams to plan production across multiple years. By anticipating future changes in import limits, the teams could schedule higher or lower production quantities accordingly.
Material Balancing: We designed the system to prioritize the use of original materials in production while allowing for the substitution of replacement materials when necessary. This balancing feature ensured the optimal use of available materials while adhering to import regulations.
Project Implementation Summary
The implementation of this global chemical compliance check system allowed our multinational client to efficiently manage their chemical imports and navigate the complexities of international regulations. By integrating real-time data retrieval, using a modular architecture, and incorporating production planning and material balancing features, we developed a robust and adaptable solution that could evolve with changing regulations and business needs.
Our approach highlights the importance of flexible system design in addressing the unique challenges faced by multinational corporations. By prioritizing adaptability and scalability, organizations can develop systems that not only meet their immediate needs but also accommodate future changes in the global regulatory landscape.
